How to Become a Massage Therapist in Utah

Utah is a western state known for its natural beauty, which makes it an ideal place to earn your massage therapy license and certification. There are two types of ways to become a massage therapist in Utah :

    • Complete 600 hours of instruction from an approved massage therapy school on behalf of the Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing.
    • Pass either the NCBTMB or the MBLEx national certification examination.
    • Pass the Utah Massage Law Exam.


    • Complete 1,000 hours of supervised training through an apprenticeship.
    • Pass the Utah Massage Law Exam.

After earning your license and certification, you will be eligible to work in a physician’s office, wellness center, or nursing home. If this is not your cup of tea, you can work at a spa, resort, or salon instead!
